Photographer Rachel Hulin saw her husband lifting up their baby Henry one day and wondered what it would look like if her husband were cropped out. The result? Henry appeared to be flying!
When I wrote my NYC guide last fall, we talked about 10 amazing things to do as a grown-up. But now I'd love to share our eight favorite kid activities (Toby approved!)...

At two years old, Toby is full of love. Usually I get an elbow in my ribs, or a smack on the face, but his rough-and-tumble smooches are my favorite. It's a cliche, but I never want him to grow up:)
What are you up to this weekend? This morning, I asked Toby what he wanted to do this weekend, and his answer was, "Amaaaazin'," so I guess I'll have to come up with some cool plans! Also, on Sunday, we're going apartment-hunting in Brooklyn. Fingers crossed. Have a wonderful weekend, and here are a few fun posts from around the web...
Today's giveaway is from Moop, the Pittsburgh studio that makes beautiful handmade bags for men, women and kids. Their bags are soft and roomy and perfect for adventures around town. (For the past two years, I've used their blue market bag as Toby's trusty diaper bag.) They also have a new waxed yellow backpack, a messenger bag for computers, and beautiful letter bags.

I love a good club (documentaries, articles, picnics), so I was psyched to get this email from a reader named Emily:
Have you ever worn a $50 T-shirt? They actually are fantastic—soft material, small stitching, flattering fit, don't hug your tummy. But who wants to pay fifty bucks for a T-shirt?
We have five-and-a-half weeks of summer before the first day of fall. That's 38 full days to ride bikes, wear shorts and drink icy lemonade. (Or you could host a lemonade stand: in NYC, you can make $240!). Luckily for us, Ashley from Not Without Salt is sharing the most refreshing recipe ever (which you can easily turn into a cocktail)...
When we're visiting my grandmother in England, she always serves afternoon tea around 4pm. We'll gather around the table in swimsuits and shorts, and she'll bring out cups of milky black tea and homemade lemon cake. Sweet and tangy, the whole cake disappears within minutes. Happily, Angharad from the great blog Eating for England agreed to share her favorite recipe (trust me, you want to make this!!)...
Do you ever rent bikes on vacation? We're addicted. You can explore neighborhoods in a fun, breezy way, and you feel like a local. One of my all-time favorite memories is biking home from dinner in Paris, late at night, and passing Notre Dame, towering above us, all lit up. Magical.
(For example, I put in our Manhattan zip code and found tons of options, including this cute orange vintage bike for $10/day or $50/week. Amazing!!! Way better than paying $350/week, which is what our neighborhood bike shop would charge.)
How often do you wear ponytails? There's nothing cuter, but sometimes you want to mix it up. Our side ponytail was our most popular hair tutorial ever, so today we'd love to share another ponytail look. This twisted ponytail takes less than a minute, and is perfect for work, dates and weekend picnics. Below, my friend Caroline explains how to do it, and Jamie Beck took photos...

For cool kids (and grown-ups), this Bill Murray coloring book hit bookstores today. There are 24 different illustrations by artists that you get to color in. Ha, love that dude!
What are you up to this weekend? I rarely go to dinner with a bunch of women (do you?), but this Sunday, we're having a girl's dinner at an Italian restaurant, and I'm really excited. Feels like college again! Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend, and here are a few fun links from around the web...
Today's giveaway is a big one! J.Crew has a gorgeous jewelry collection, inspired by the dramatic costume jewelry of the 1950s. Think: cocktail rings, gold bangles, flower necklaces. And you can even find exquisite real pearls.
In college, I house-sat for some family friends while they were on vacation. And they had a ridiculously comfortable bed—layered with silk sheets and a velvet duvet. It felt like sleeping in a pile of clouds. I'd kind of forgotten about it until I saw this new velvet bedding from Castle, and it took me right back.

Denim on denim is having a moment. I keep spotting beautiful women pairing denim shirts with jeans, and they look incredibly chic. Who would have thought?! The trick seems to be wearing the softest chambray shirt you can find, which makes the look feel effortless (versus stiff).
New York is in the middle of an amazing tomato season right now (the best one in years, says the New York Times), so we'd love to feature a second tomato recipe today. If you have a free bag of chips, and a few hungry friends, here's a killer salsa recipe from Lisa Fain of Homesick Texan...Read More >
Have you ever had panzanella? When I was studying abroad in Florence during college, we would eat a delicious salad of juicy tomatoes, fresh basil, sharp vinaigrette and cubes of bread. The bread really makes the salad—and you can (and should!) use old stale bread, since it softens up in the tomato juice. Happily, Laura from The First Mess agreed to share the best recipe ever...Read More >
The website Humans of New York has stolen my heart. Photographer Brandon Stanton takes portraits of people around the city, from firefighters to street musicians to goofy little kids. The photos are beautiful, but the captions really make them. Here are my 11 favorites, below...
Have you read any good books lately? I just finished mine, and I'm looking for something fun to read. Any ideas?! The other day I saw a little girl reading a Roald Dahl book in a cafe, and it made me nostalgic; maybe reading the BFG would be fun. I also loved The Glass Castle and Cooking for Mr. Latte, if you want a rec!
Today's giveaway is from Ergobaby. Have you worn one before? I adored wearing Toby in an Ergo for the first two years of his life (photos here:), and I still wear him in it when we travel. Ergos are easy to put on, and they're comfy for walking around town (and into stores); I wear him on the front, so we can chit-chat, and he's always more mellow than when he's in the stroller.
