Photographer Rachel Hulin saw her husband lifting up their baby Henry one day and wondered what it would look like if her husband were cropped out. The result? Henry appeared to be flying!

Hulin created a series of these adorable images, and now she's publishing a 40-page book, Flying Henry, in April 2013. How cute is that? (Wouldn't it be cool to write a story to go along with the photos?)

(Thanks, Scott)

At two years old, Toby is full of love. Usually I get an elbow in my ribs, or a smack on the face, but his rough-and-tumble smooches are my favorite. It's a cliche, but I never want him to grow up:)

(Thanks to our friend Sharon for snapping these photos in Fire Island a couple weekends ago. I'm usually the one behind the camera, so it's a treat to have some mama/baby photos. Update: My dress is from here; thanks for asking)

What are you up to this weekend? This morning, I asked Toby what he wanted to do this weekend, and his answer was, "Amaaaazin'," so I guess I'll have to come up with some cool plans! Also, on Sunday, we're going apartment-hunting in Brooklyn. Fingers crossed. Have a wonderful weekend, and here are a few fun posts from around the web...

Movie club idea

9/10 3698
I love a good club (documentaries, articles, picnics), so I was psyched to get this email from a reader named Emily:

"My friends and I have started a Cinema Club where we're watching all our dads' favorite movies. It's been such fun already, and the dads (none of whom know each other) get such a kick out of being so important in their twentysomething daughters’ lives...especially since they all live in Australia while we live in London! We've watched One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Graduate, Casablanca—and Lexi's dad's choice was Van Wilder! Hilarious choice from a 60+ university professor..."

What a brilliant idea, right? Would you do it? What do you think your dad would pick?

P.S. The Shining as a romantic comedy.

Have you ever worn a $50 T-shirt? They actually are fantastic—soft material, small stitching, flattering fit, don't hug your tummy. But who wants to pay fifty bucks for a T-shirt?

So, the new-ish brand Everlane came up with a brilliant strategy: They make fancy T-shirts, but they cut out the middlemen (like retail stores), so they can sell them for just $15. Genius. All my friends are now buying these in bulk, and Alex and I wear them every weekend. They fit beautifully. I'm wearing the box cut as I type this very post!

Thanks, Everlane.

We have five-and-a-half weeks of summer before the first day of fall. That's 38 full days to ride bikes, wear shorts and drink icy lemonade. (Or you could host a lemonade stand: in NYC, you can make $240!). Luckily for us, Ashley from Not Without Salt is sharing the most refreshing recipe ever (which you can easily turn into a cocktail)...

When we're visiting my grandmother in England, she always serves afternoon tea around 4pm. We'll gather around the table in swimsuits and shorts, and she'll bring out cups of milky black tea and homemade lemon cake. Sweet and tangy, the whole cake disappears within minutes. Happily, Angharad from the great blog Eating for England agreed to share her favorite recipe (trust me, you want to make this!!)...

Do you ever rent bikes on vacation? We're addicted. You can explore neighborhoods in a fun, breezy way, and you feel like a local. One of my all-time favorite memories is biking home from dinner in Paris, late at night, and passing Notre Dame, towering above us, all lit up. Magical.

But! The catch is that rental bikes can be surprisingly expensive. They can cost as much as $50/day, and for two people, that adds up very quickly.

So, I was thrilled to discover Spinlister. Basically, it's airbnb for bikes. You rent bikes from their owners for low rates, typically between $10 and $20 per day.
(For example, I put in our Manhattan zip code and found tons of options, including this cute orange vintage bike for $10/day or $50/week. Amazing!!! Way better than paying $350/week, which is what our neighborhood bike shop would charge.)

Yay, Spinlister! Will you use them?

P.S. Toby on a bike, and bike rush hour.

Velvet bedding

9/10 3698
In college, I house-sat for some family friends while they were on vacation. And they had a ridiculously comfortable bed—layered with silk sheets and a velvet duvet. It felt like sleeping in a pile of clouds. I'd kind of forgotten about it until I saw this new velvet bedding from Castle, and it took me right back.

Have you ever slept in velvet? George would love it...

Denim on denim is having a moment. I keep spotting beautiful women pairing denim shirts with jeans, and they look incredibly chic. Who would have thought?! The trick seems to be wearing the softest chambray shirt you can find, which makes the look feel effortless (versus stiff).

Thoughts? Would you wear this?

P.S. Jordan suggests adding red shoes, which is a cute idea!

Have you read any good books lately? I just finished mine, and I'm looking for something fun to read. Any ideas?! The other day I saw a little girl reading a Roald Dahl book in a cafe, and it made me nostalgic; maybe reading the BFG would be fun. I also loved The Glass Castle and Cooking for Mr. Latte, if you want a rec!

Monday giveaway!

9/10 3698
Today's giveaway is from Ergobaby. Have you worn one before? I adored wearing Toby in an Ergo for the first two years of his life (photos here:), and I still wear him in it when we travel. Ergos are easy to put on, and they're comfy for walking around town (and into stores); I wear him on the front, so we can chit-chat, and he's always more mellow than when he's in the stroller.

Today Ergobaby is giving one lucky reader a carrier of her choice. Which would you pick? (The organic ones are lovely, and their new zebra print is cool.)

For a chance to win, please visit Ergobaby and leave a comment below telling us your favorite color/print Ergo. A winner will be chosen at random tomorrow. Good luck! Update: Raminta F. is our winner. Thanks for playing.

Bonus for all readers: Get 10% off any order with the code ACUPOFJO10 for the next two weeks.
